Do you ever get asked that question?
"You know what I mean?"
I feel like that's a common question I'm asked during massage sessions. It usually has nothing to do with the persons body or the massage. Majority of the time its something personal that they're assuming I can relate too.
My first massage client of the day was an older woman, she was talking on the phone with her daughter as I waited for her to get on my table. When we started she starts to tell me how guilty she's feeling because her teenage daughter is at home sick while she is here on the island on a mini vacation. I tell her that I'm sure her daughter would want her to enjoy her time away, especially her massage. She says that her daughter probably doesn't even care since she is in high school. Then she says "Mother- teenage Daughter relationships are so chaotic. You know what I mean?" I smile and nod like I do. But really I have no idea. My mom died when I was 13 years old. And I wasn't really that rebellious in my high school years. So that gets me to thinking about how many times do I just agree with a person, when I really don't relate to what's being said.?
